The book of Wisdom.

The Bible has a book of wisdom, there are many passages particularly within proverbs which puts the attainment of wisdom above all else.

I would have thought the Bible would been an atheists favourite book

😀

I honestly don’t understand how some atheists can say that the Bible is absolute rubbish.

I think we have to go back to the times the books of the Bible were written for, how people of those times would have possibly obsessed over material things . Perhaps to gain a social footing in society, but the Bible comes along as a socially popular narrative which proclaims the importance of wisdom above anything else.

Right now I’m reading the books of Ezra and Nehemiah and how the stories back then reflect our lives right now, how an easier way of living is actually stopping people from following faith and perhaps making people dumber.

As an atheist, and a former Christain who has read the entire bible a couple of times, I do find the bible rubbish. In that it has a few sensible things doesn’t not mean that the violence, ignorance and hate within it are to be considered valid. And this, right from Proverbs 1, shows how unwise the bible is “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction.”

Nope, not at all. Believing in superstitious nonsense like a god’s wrath being responsible for illness is not wise at all. Every cult says that only they are wise and everyone else is “foolish” for not agreeing with their baseless claims.

Most of the things it says were already in some other culture’s writings, including the “golden rule”.

no, the bible says that what is in it is “wise” and it is in large part not. And for having supposedly the “wisest man in the world”, the culture of the Israelites produced nothing at all but a book of myths that fail. This god repeatedly shows how it is no more than a human invention, obsessed with obedience, genocide, killing children, insisting that slaves never seek their freedoms for its “glory”, etc.

“I think we have to go back to the times the books of the Bible were written for, how people of those times would have possibly obsessed over material things .”

unsurprisngly, your god is number one for obsessing over material things in the bible, demanding gold, silver, fine leather, embroidered curtains, and fabulous temples. Which strangely enough have no evidence they ever existed.
